Study Skills

Walter E. Dennis Academic Learning Lab in the Younkin Success Center is a one-stop-source for students to polish their learning, motivation, and study skills.

  • You will learn how to take expert lecture notes, outline a chapter in a textbook, prepare for exams, and manage your time and your life.
  • You can take a class in the Academic Learning Lab to learn all about these study skills and raise your grade point average as a result. The course is called Individual Learning and Motivation: Strategies for Success in College (EDU P & L 259). It is worth 5 credit hours towards your degree. Students who have taken this course have seen their GPA's go up more than three times as much as students who have not.
  • Take this on-line inventory, the School Strategies Scale, to perfect your academic skills.
