The Colleges of the Arts and Sciences offers three Interdisciplinary Programs:
Middle Childhood Education
Personalized Study Program (PSP)
International Studies - The goals listed below for progress in the International Studies major are provided to give you a general idea of the number of hours and types of courses expected to be completed each year in order to maintain a four-year graduation plan. Each specialized track (for example, International Studies: International Relations and Diplomacy) has special requirements and prerequisites, which can be found on the department website.
First Year – 45 Degree Hours
NOTE: This is for INTERNATIONAL STUDIES MAJORS. For Middle Childhood Education and PSP majors, please consult with an academic advisor.
- Complete English 110
- Foreign Language – Begin sequence autumn quarter
- Math – Complete quantitative and logical skills, parts A and B
- GEC – Complete 15-20 hours of Natural Science/Arts and Humanities/Social Science
- Begin prerequisites for major/minor
- Advising conferences - have met with your Arts and Sciences academic counselor and with your major advisor
Second Year – 90 Degree Hours
- Complete second writing course
- Foreign Language – Complete upper-level courses
- Math – Complete quantitative and logical skills, part C
- Complete 15-20 hours of Natural Science/Arts and Humanities/Social Science
- Begin major/minor courses
- Advising Conferences – have met with your Arts and Sciences academic counselor & Major advisers at least once
Third Year – 135 Degree Hours
- 15-20 hours of Natural Science/Arts and Humanities/Social Science degree requirements completed
- Continue Major/Minor
- Advising conferences – have met with your Arts and Sciences academic counselor & Major advisers at least once
Fourth Year – 191 (minimum degree hours)
- Complete remaining hours of Natural Science/Arts and Humanities/Social Science
- Complete Major/minor
- Be certain you have completed the 597 senior capstone course
- Check for completion of all required degree hours (minimum of 191, will vary with each student)
- Make sure you have at least 60 Upper Division hours (300 level and above)
- Apply for graduation (with your Arts and Sciences academic counselor), 1 quarter prior to the quarter you anticipate to graduate. Preparing to Graduate.
Please note that this sample four-year plan is designed for students with math placement level R, N, M or L. Students who place at level S or T should consult with your Arts and Sciences academic counselor.
