Did you know you have two Academic Advisors?
Students in the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences have two advisors to help you with course selection and academic issues. Your assigned Arts and Sciences academic counselor is a full-time professional and generalist who advises you on the General Education Curriculum (GEC), special academic and career opportunities, graduation requirements, university policies and procedures, and who make referrals to campus support services. They are available by appointment only. An academic counselor is also usually available for QUICK questions by telephone. Please call (614) 292-6961.
Our departmental advisor is considered a "specialist" in your area of study. This advisor, who works for the department that offers your major, is either a full-time professional advisor or a faculty member in the department who does advising in addition to teaching and research. You should consult this person on issues related specifically to your major.
It is sometimes possible for an Arts and Sciences academic counselor to see you within the same day if you have a pressing concern or an emergency matter. The best way to insure that you can get in to see a counselor within the same day is to come to the appropriate office (locations under section "How To Make An Appointment With Your Arts and Sciences Academic Counselor) at 8 a.m., and the receptionist will check to see if there is an opening. While we cannot guarantee that you will get a same-day appointment, we will do our best to accommodate your situation.
